More informationOK BackMedieval Eating Pick, hand-forged stainless steelNotwithstanding its medieval design, this new eating awl made by Ulfberth also perfectly meets the high standards of modern cuisine: It is hand-forged out of stainless steel, hence non-corroding and suited for direct contact with food. We nevertheless recommend that you clean it thoroughly prior to first use.
In medieval times, people would use the eating pick to skewer their food and raise it to their mouth. It was basically their actual fork. Although the fork itself already existed at the time, it was commonly used as a serving item, for example to hold a piece of meat down while carving it, in the same way a carving fork is used nowadays.
