Canteen from white Clay
Very authentic reconstruction of an early medieval canteen from white clay
It’s supposed to be found in Cologne. Due to hygienic matters it’s glazed at
the inside and it’s equipped with a cork. The bottle is kept plainly without
complex decorations. It’s very special because of its collar and its attached base.
In ancient times people started using canteens. Pilgrims at first discovered the
advantages, later the bottles became part of military equipment as well.
This vessel has been produced in long and complex procedures of handcraft in Germany
and now shows an enjoyable contrast to many of the imported and machine-made products
on the market. The quality, the accuracy and the pleasure of manufacturing in traditional
kind and in copying true to original, are visible and convincing.
